I wrote a blog about the fact that I’m finally on team E-Reader and why I want to give this new way of reading a shot a while ago. On my twenty second birthday, I got my brand new E-Reader from my parents as a gift. Here’s what I think about it this far!
Kobo Aura 2
First of all, I want to empathize that I own a Kobo Aura 2 E-Reader. My opinion is based on this E-Reader, other E-Readers might work different. My very first impression of the Kobo Aura 2 E-Reader was: wow, this thing is small. Somehow, I expected my E-Reader to be the size of an avarage book, but my E-Reader is more the size of a pocket book, which is fine, it’s just something I have to get used to.
I’m used to different kinds of touchscreens, mostly on my smartphone. But the touchscreen of an E-Reader is way slower than I’m used to. My first attempts to open a book or just to click on something failed. The touchscreen didn’t react directly, and then it started to act like crazy. After a while I got used to the touchscreen, so it’s no big deal for me anymore.
Then off to the reading part, the most exciting part of it all. I really expected to read differently on an E-Reader, but it actually wasn’t. It’s not truly the same as holding a physical book, but while I was reading, I sort of forgot that I was reading on an E-Reader. Which means that the reading experience is the same for me. That was a total shocker, in a positive way!
I’m still getting to know my Kobo Aura 2, there’s a lot to discover on it. But overall, I really like my new E-Reader.
Do you own an E-Reader? What do you think about it?
PS: I will upload a full (Dutch) review on the Kobo Aura 2 soon, with more specific details on the E-Reader!
